About Kanshinkai Shotokan Karate-do Federation India


Kanshinkai Shotokan Karate-do Federation India is a Karate organization approved by Karate Association of India (KAI), and affiliated member of World Karate Federation (WKF), Japan Karate Federation (JKF), Asian Karate Federation (AKF), and Karate-do Association of Bengal (KAB).


The Head Quarter of Kanshinkai Shotokan Karate-do Federation India is situated at Kolkata. The organization has its branches in several districts of West Bengal (North 24 Parganas, Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, Uttar Dinajpur and entire North Bengal) and two other states namely Odisha and Jharkhand.


Hanshi Tomio Hamada, a Japanese Karate Instructor of four different Karate styles namely, Shotokan, Shito-Ryu, Wado-Ryu and Gojo-Ryu – is the founder of the style Kanshinkai Shotokan. Kyoshi Sudhir Biswas is the pioneer of the style in India.


In 1982, Kyoshi Sudhir Biswas started his Karate life in Ashiara style. After that he practiced Kasumiki Kaikan style from 1983 to 1986. Then for a period of 18 years he practiced Karate under the Budokan style (1986 – 2004). In the middle of 2004, Kyoshi Sudhir Biswas changed his style to Goshiko-Ryu and continued it till the end of 2008. During this period in 2007, he participated the International Karate Championship at Argentina and won 01 Silver and 01 Bronze medal. From the beginning of 2009 to the middle of 2013, he practiced the Kofukan Shito-Ryu style. At that time he participated Karate Championship in two different countries – Armenia and Russia and won 03 Silver and 02 Bronze medals respectively (in 2009). Finally in the middle of 2013, Kyoshi Sudhir Biswas brought the Kanshinkai Shotokan style in India and founded the Kanshinkai Shotokan Karate-do Federation India.


In 2016, he participated the JKS Seminar at Japan as a representative of Kanshinkai Shotokan Karatedo Federation India under the guidance of Master Masao Kagawa. In 2017, Kyoshi Sudhir Biswas participated another training seminar at Indonesia trained by Master Masao Kagawa and just in the next year i.e. 2018, he participated the Special Training & Referee Seminar under the guidance of the same Master.


Kanshinkai Shotokan Karate-do Federation India deeply believe on Discipline, Loyalty and Honesty. It comprising of companionship of disciples of likeminded Budo teachers, those believe on its philosophy. It is a combination of all four major styles i.e. Shito | Goju | Shoto | Wado founded by great karate master Kenei Mabuni, Chojun Miyagi, Gichin Funakoshi & Hironori Ohtsuka respectively. Hence it is quite different in nature from other traditional styles.
